Rust tells the stories of North Carolinians in manufactured, low-cost housing. These low-income families describe the successes of the manufactured housing program in eastern North Carolina, and the author will discuss how this program can help overcome the failures of other housing programs. From the noted author of the best-selling What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality comes this insightful, powerful, and remarkably honest reflection on culture, sexuality, and church. Join him to discuss how you can question your faith and retain your spirituality at the same time. The Transcended Christian is a collection of eighteen essays on contemporary Christianity viewed from the perspective of, and addressed to, people who have outgrown their religion yet want and need to maintain personal spirituality. This down-to-earth book emphasizes wholesome living in a global community and downplays religion's other-worldly claims, all the while insisting that such an emphasis is the genuine Christian message. Celebrated Maximum Rocknroll columnist Mykel Board will be here to discuss a variety of things, but will probably focus mostly on his books: Even a Daughter is Better than Nothing and I, A-Me-ist. We’re really excited to have Mykel come, so please join us for a great evening of delightful conversation. In I, A Me-ist or The Portable Board, Mykel Board has put together more than 50 of his controversial columns for Maximum Rock'n'Roll. Sexy, disgusting, outrageous, are only adjectives at the tip of the verbal iceberg. Prostitutes, pedophiles, thieves, drug users, alcoholics all populate Mykel's columns. Most of them are Mykel. Forward by Ben Weasel. In Even A Daughter Is Better Than Nothing, Mykel Board presents a brilliant and wicked trip into the depths of Outer Mongolia in 1995, just after the fall of Communism. Incisive and outrageous, Board recounts his year of teaching English and exploiting the natives at the National University in Ulaanbaatar. Join him on his twisting (and twisted) journey through Mongolian drinking, heavy metal, wrestling, problematic plumbing and sex, as he meets some of the kindest, most resilient individuals on earth.
